The Property Appraiser's Office IS NOT a taxing authority.  The local Property Appraiser is a Constitutional officer, duly elected by the citizens of St. Johns County.  The office was created by Florida's Constitution to assess the value of all properties within its jurisdiction and to administer exemptions.  Chapters 193 and 196 of the Florida Statutes govern assessment and exemptions.

The following taxing and levying authorities determine millage or "tax" rates based on their budgetary needs.  Those millage rates are then applied to the taxable value of each property within their jurisdiction to yield the appropriate tax amounts.  Following is a list of the various taxing and levying authorities within St. Johns County and their related contact numbers and addresses:
